Since February, our studio team has been hard at work, designing and executing their latest project: Project Moody. Their client asked for a complete basement renovation, suitable for hosting and lounging. Today, we're discussing how Jasmine and Shannon began the planning process, the inspiration, and the progress made so far.
Project Planning
A lot goes on behind the scenes when planning a home renovation! As a designer, you have to study the space and see the vision your client is trying to achieve. We use design boards - as seen below - to give our clients a clear layout of the end goal before we begin. Taking our ideas from paper to reality is only one part of the process!
We may be biased, but from the design board alone, the theater looks like the ideal place to escape! Next, it is time to order products, start construction, and put everything in its place. It is such a fun and rewarding process to see the space you and your client envisioned come together.
Describing the Vibe
As mentioned, the client is renovating their basement entirely with the hope of having a bar, bathroom, lounge area, and theater room. The space features dark, moody tones with pops of color to create a modern glam vibe. Black marble, unique light fixtures, and a mixture of black and gold hardware help give the space a cohesive look - key in every renovation!
Making Progress
The home is still under construction, but significant progress has been made! Take a peek at the photos below to get an idea of the before and after. It’s safe to say the design boards are slowly coming to life!
