It is officially sweater weather, which means you can eat as many sweet treats as you want! Baking is undeniably enjoyable, whether you are doing it alone or involving the whole family. Get into the fall spirit and serve these delicious pumpkin scones at your next gathering, inspired by Sally’s Baking Addiction!

Items You Need

Before you begin, you will need a baking pan, mixing bowls, whisk, and measuring spoons. We also recommend our flour scoop and an aesthetic way to display your treat! We suggest either one of our cutting boards or our wood glass cloche!

Ingredients

Although this recipe is straightforward, the ingredient list is longer than most of our recipes. The upside is that many of these ingredients are pantry must-haves and can be easily substituted! Maybe add chocolate chips and crushed walnuts, or skip on the glaze if you have an aversion to cream cheese!

Pumpkin Scones:

  • Two Cups of All-purpose Flour
  • Two and a Half Teaspoons of Baking Powder
  • One Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
  • One and a Half Teaspoons of Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • Half a Teaspoon of Salt
  • Half Cup Unsalted Butter, Frozen
  • One-third Cup and Two Tablespoons of Heavy Cream, Divided
  • One Large Egg
  • Half a Cup of Canned Pumpkin Puree
  • Half a Cup of Light Brown Sugar
  • One Teaspoon of Pure Vanilla Extract

Cream Cheese Glaze:

  • Four Ounces of Cream Cheese
  • Half a Cup of Confectioners’ Sugar
  • One Teaspoon of Pure Vanilla Extract
  • Three to Four Tablespoons of Milk

Instructions

For The Scones:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400° and line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk your flour, cinnamon, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, and salt together in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Grate frozen butter into the mixture and combine everything with your hands to create pea-sized crumbs, then set the mixture aside.
  4. Whisk one-third cup of heavy cream, one egg, brown sugar, pumpkin puree, and vanilla extract in a small bowl.
  5. Drizzle the combination over your dry mixture.
  6. With floured hands, work the dough into a ball and slice it into even wedges.
  7. Place the scones on your prepared baking sheet, at least two inches apart.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

For The Glaze:

  1. Beat your cream cheese until smooth in a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Then add your confectioner sugar, vanilla extract, and three tablespoons of milk. Note, add more milk to achieve your desired consistency.
  3. Drizzle on and enjoy!
